COMPETENCES FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNATIONALIZATION
Psychologist Zorica Durman Marijanović and speech therapist Ivanka Karačić attended English language classes at the Center of English Studies school in Dublin, Ireland. This school for improving the English language was chosen on the recommendation of project partners from England and because of the extremely good reviews of the students who attended it.
The level of knowledge of the English language was checked before attending classes in order to better distribute the students to the appropriate groups. The teaching and teaching methods encouraged the acquisition of new terms, mastery of grammar, improvement of listening, speaking, reading and writing of the English language. Work was done in smaller groups, which we consider extremely successful because they provide opportunities for more frequent speaking and direct instruction from the teacher, in case mistakes are made. The teachers use different teaching methods (ICT tools, audio and video technology, worksheets) and are extremely sensitive to the multicultural diversity of the group and encourage us to exchange experiences, attitudes, knowledge, and habits about the countries we come from. It is an opportunity for all participants to increase cross-cultural awareness, to increase awareness of the values of the European Union and the opportunities it provides for professional training, for better knowledge of foreign languages, and then greater motivation and satisfaction in everyday work.
After ten days of teaching and the final exam, the teachers prepared a final report for each of us. The report highlights areas in which we have made progress as well as areas that are recommended for further work and advancement. The school also offers free three-month education on an online platform, which is extremely useful for further improving a foreign language.
We used our stay in Ireland to get to know the cultural diversity of the country, the habits and customs of the people, the language, which contributes to greater cross-cultural awareness and motivation to continue international project cooperation.
